Mount Bierstadt and The Sawtooth from the trail near trailhead
兩年前(2023)8月和小外孫Jacob與當時他的女朋友Regina及其家人去攀登科羅拉多州排名第32的高山Pikes Peak，去年10月骨科醫師診斷我左膝有退化性關節炎跡象，本以為和小外孫去爬的這一座Pikes Peak是我此生的最後一座14ers，休息半年多本打算繳回登山執照了，沒想到來美兩個多月已有轉好跡象；今天在小外孫Jacob和Regina(已升格為孫媳婦)慫恿之下再一起去攀爬科羅拉多高山排名第38的Mount Bierstadt，該山我已登過五次，今天爬下來還算順利，給自己增加不小的信心！

行車資訊：
丹佛沿I-70西行，在Exit 228出口下交流道經Georgetown轉行Guanella Pass南下，續行約11.5哩的山路即達Guanella Pass的最高點前道路左側下方的停車場，此處即為登山口，海拔11,669呎/ 3,557公尺，此段道路一般車輛皆可到達；在將抵達登山口前於路邊看到兩隻年輕的公駝鹿(Bull moose)。

遙望東邊山頭右邊高點即是今天要攀登的山頭Mount Bierstadt。

步道一開始是緩下坡往Scott Gomer Creek沼澤地前進，沼澤地長滿高可及胸的植物willows，它又不是我們認識的柳樹willows，樹枝茂密堅硬，要是鑽進去要比台灣的箭竹林難惹；沼澤地在低窪的地方鋪有木棧道，走起來蠻方便的。

08:00 來到Scott Gomer Creek，小心的從溪流中踏腳石渡過；

此地海拔約11,529呎/3,514公尺，距登山口約0.81哩/1.3公里，比登山口下降了一百呎左右。
過了Scott Gomer Creek不久又進入willows樹叢並開始在Mount Bierstadt西面山坡下“之”字形爬升。

08:55 爬升到西北肩稜一平坦處，高度約12,224呎/3,726公尺，距登山口約1.93哩/3.1公里；

從Mount Beirstadt半山腰西眺Grays Peak和Torreys Peak兩座14ers。
09:14 爬升到北肩稜一處稜線曝露點，距登山口約2.24哩/3.6公里，高度約12,490呎/3,807公尺；此處貼近眺望Bierstadt通往Mount Blue Sky的通道The Sawtooth Ridge更形顯現出其險惡！

此後步道右彎朝南陡上。

10:10步道轉為不規則岩石路面，也轉為較陡峭；

兩旁岩石坡苔原植物及野花盛開，幾隻Mountain goat正在岩石坡覓食。

此段不規則岩石路面持續約一哩多直抵山頂，爬升約1,500呎/458公尺，是登此山較難走的一段路。

11:00 爬升到Bierstadt西南稜鞍部，海拔13,776呎/4,199公尺；

Bierstadt山頭在東北方，此處距登山口約3.36哩/5.4公里，離山頂大約還要爬升280呎/85公尺；

登頂路徑上山、下山的登山客絡繹不絕，喘口氣後開始攻頂，此段路路跡較不明顯，反正抓準方向往上登就對了！

11:40登頂Bierstadt，整個山頭都是人潮；Mount Beirstadt海拔14,060 呎/4,285 公尺，天氣晴朗，天氣預報下午多雲，三點以後有機會有雷雨，山頂展望還算良好。

12:08 下山。
14:30 下抵Scott Gomer Creek，渡河後朝登山口緩坡爬升。
15:00 返抵登山口，貝貝和Regina已下山一陣子在車上等候，稍加整裝後由貝貝開車回家；在返家的路上於Quanella Pass看到了幾隻Big Horn Sheep。
